This therapy is based on the belief that our body holds memories, joyous or traumatic, on a cellular level. These memories may or may not be consciously remembered.

An area or associated region in the body may have a “negative vertex or cyst”; these are sometimes referred to blockages of life flow or “chi”. When this occurs, a physical dysfunction may manifest, such as localized or referred pain or with a system like indigestion, anxiety or depression.

In order for other treatments such as massage, physical therapy, allopathic, naturopathic or Eastern therapies to be successful, the somatic release may need to be utilized.

During treatment, the therapist uses a "hands on approach" and facilitates ongoing dialogues with the client in a semi-conscious state. The client remains clothed.

A session typically lasts 60 minutes.
